The End of 2011...

In just a couple of hours we bid farewell to 2011. And we usher in the new year, we usher in the most hotly debated year in all of history, we set foot into the year everyone has been talking about, waiting for, to actually see if 2012 actually holds any of what is told.
You see, the end of the world has been a topic of interest for virtually immemorial. We simply like to predict the end of the world, right? Doesn't matter if we miss a couple of times, we just need to say it out loud. Someone, somewhere told that an ancient calender ends in 2012, so behold we have entered the end of the world. And to add fuel to fire, we get the movie 2012. The last time I checked, it was a film. It was fiction.
Man, it would have been interesting if this was the first time around. But no, look back to 2000, remember Y2K??? Many said that was the end.
And then, New Age belief points to a new aspect. Popularised through Dan Brown's best seller The Lost Symbol, December 21, 2012 is the day a profound enlightenment engulfs earth. They took the phrase "The End of the World" and appended a phrase to it.
"The End of the World as you Know It".
Much more appealing to me in any way.
Well whatever happens...

The Holidays...

I am back home at long last...and it is time for the holidays. Well, half of that is already done, but no problem.

First up, Christmas...
December is usually a month which brings happiness in its wake. But this time, I didn't feel any of it. It was partly due to the 13 12 11 mishap on my part and due to the extremely rushed state of affairs. But anyway, I reached home on 24th, and my cousins were already there. Well, both of them have exams at the start of next year, so they are spending most of their times behind books...so that made up my holidays...
Next up....


On Christmas day, we went for Don 2. the much awaited return of the King was a crowd-puller all right, but there was just too much style and little substance in all of that. And when SRK ripped off his Hrithik mask, that was just a wee bit too much. And the dialogue "Agar tumhe kuch ho jata to???" coming from the world's biggest criminal...really?Really?
that being said, that's all that has happened till now...







And I just want to say this...
2012 is coming,
And it will be the end of the world as you know it...

An Epitaph of Sorts...

13 12 11...A mathematical progression of death. EC lab is one of those places where it is pure hell if you don't know the theory. And if you do???
It is still pure, unadulterated hell.
And 6 months of agonizing torture came to a head today as I set foot into the demonic structure. And I stretched my hand out to draw out my question... hoping for the luck of the draw to aid me as it has done on countless occasions. I whipped my hand out, and opened the booklet to the first page.
And my breath got stuck in my throat.
This requires me to draw the CB characteristics.
And that isn't even in the syllabus.
Oh, I just got got. I just got screwed.
I drew the circuit from my distant memory, and proceeded to set up the circuit.
And that is when I just blew my cool.
I have got quite a lot of problems to be dealing with without the multimeters quitting their jobs.
By 2 and a half hours, I was nearly in tears. I wanted to rip, tear everything I saw. I was that damn angry.
But then, God lent a hand.
One of the last multimeters which was not working till that instant sprang up to life for no apparent reason. And I was saved. I got a couple of readings, and drew the graph. I overshot the expected value, but still, I think I will scrape through.
A bitter-sweet day to be frank.
It's over.

Back and Forth...

Wow, I seem to have forgotten to write anything here since I was bombed with the result...yeah, it was kinda unexpected, and I am a bit disappointed, knowing that I was beaten. But I've got nobody to blame but myself. I can do nothing about it this semester, the exams are nearly over, only the practicals remain, but in S4, oh hell, I will be the best I can be.

But moving on...
I seem to be spending a LOT of time in the train nowadays. Let's count shall we?
4,9,12,19 and today night as well. Count a 12 hour journey each time, and what do we get????
60 hours in the train, one month, and the month is not done yet...
Wow, the train is steadily becoming my second home, as far as I'm concerned...
The thing is, right now, we are having weekly exams, and nothing to do during the week drives me home. Well, no complaints there!!! But still wish someone, one of my uncles and family were there, it sure gets a bit boring now and then...

First Year Results Out to Get Me...

A month and a half of speculation, six months since the exam, the much awaited first year results have been declared.
Drum roll would be much appreciated at this time...9.17. Yup, that's right no marks, no percentages, no nothing, just plain Grade Point Average.
It's not like I am on cloud nine, it's not like I am jumping all over the place...I am a wee bit disappointed. Can't help it, that is just the way I am. I promised myself at the start of college that I wont get all heated up over being the topper, and would just do my best and leave the rest, but that is never ever going to happen. What good is giving your best if it doesn't make you the best? I got beaten, I got clobbered.
But for every down, there is an up. Without falling you will not rise, without darkness there will be no light, without pain there will be no gain, then and only then shall victory bow down before you, and you shall smell the sweetness of success.
Hey, I didn't create this, it is the ad for TNA.

A unique, mystic combination that occurs once every hundred years and I had to have an exam on that very day. It was not horrific or terrific, I've had better. But it was okay. But that is not the topic…
To a rational, skeptic mind, this does not bear any special significance, it is at best a coincidence. Come to think of it, that is kind of true. If we chose a different counting system, or chose a different number of months, this could have been commonplace.
But believers worldwide profess that this is a mystic day and bears magical significance. I don know a girl who has a birthday today, so I wish her all the very best for her future, and hope that her future and birthday turn out to be magical.
So it ultimately boils down to this. Are you the kind of person who sees omens, or do you see signs?
Got the difference??? Just think it out...

Summin' up a Hectic Weekend!!!

My last post was dated the day my exams would have ended officially but didn't due to the one that was postponed. Anyhow, I came back home on 4th and would reached here on 5th. But as bad luck would have it, I began sneezing my nose off by noon and it just wouldn't leave me alone. And it turned out to be a vicious, diabolic bout of cold. But the funny thing was, I had all the energy in the world to do things. The only problem was everything from my throat up felt clogged, if you know what I mean. Well, it subsided, but now its time for me to leave. Today. I've got exams on 11th followed by practicals, so I don't know when I'll be back. But this blog'll keep on talking....

A Breather at Last!!...???

Whew...that was one hell of a ride. I've got to tell you this.
You've got a University exam announced just 2 weeks before. You've got an idiot posting on Facebook that the exam's going to be postponed just two days before it starts. And you get the exam as it was planned. When everything seems to be going according to plan, BAM, an exam is postponed. And you go ahead and know it's not until next week. And FINALLY, it ended today, barring the one set for 11th.
A time to relax??? Oh Hell No. Welcome to the real world, guys!!!
EC lab record to be submitted on 9th, practical exams commencing on 15th, yeah it's going to be a fun week!!
But I am going home tomorrow and I couldn't feel happier.

Transience of Plans...


I have always said this, that I am afraid to anticipate something happening for fear that it wont. My life is riddled with examples of the sort which seem to prove the proverb "There's many a slip between the cup and the lip". So much so that I think it should be my catchphrase or moniker. If you have gone through my blog, you will find numerous quotes by me about the aforementioned curse, if you will. I have always tried to not anticipate good times coming to me, because they don’t, most of the time. I am not saying that I have a miserable life, that is far from true, but most of the time, what I desire is not what I get, and most of the time, it is not because I didn’t try.
I, like all others, find it extremely easy to give the cheapest and most abundant thing on the planet, that is free advice. I advised my cousin, who has been having similar problems, that it is enough that you try, it doesn't matter if you don’t come first, and the like. I try to live by such a philosophy too, but sometimes…it just doesn’t seem to work.

I have in turn got a lot of advices from a lot of people on the same, consoling me, that I did everything I could, it just wasn’t in my hands, its not my fault and the like, but I'd like to quote from Dr. House from House M.D.
"THAT'S THE POINT!! I did everything right, she died anyway! Why the hell do you think that would make me feel any better?!"
Well, what can I say, I just felt I had to let this out somehow.
Plans are one of the most curious things in the world. The way they change, implode right in front of our eyes, and leave us feeling let down, it all leads us to think, what is going on? We have been taught right from the start, that we need to plan every minute of our lives, every step that we take and all the choices that we make have to be planned beforehand. We have been exposed to the proverb saying 'People don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan'. We are made to believe that a plan alone can be the key to success. And yet most often in life, we have a plan, we strictly abide by it and prepare for our moment of success, when all of a sudden our plans go horribly wrong. Suddenly, it's out of our hands. We did everything we could and infinitely more, and yet we could not seal the deal. How is it that we are supposed to feel good, knowing that we did our best?
Perhaps it is time to review what we teach children nowadays. Perhaps we shouldn’t teach them all of this, or at least teach them this also.
"Just because you did everything right doesn’t mean you get what you want. It just means you have a 1% chance of getting it more than others, and that 1% is most of the time non-existent".
I know it's not a big deal…but that's me...

It's raining it's pouring...


It's raining on and off here, but who is complaining? I love the rain, provided it doesn't mess with what I want, but that is besides the point. A rumble of thunder just rose, that is a side effect which some fear, but I have no problem with thunder or lightning. I am not scared of them, and I repeat, I love the rain.
You know the smell when the first raindrops land on the ground, the parched land quickly drinks up the elixir and waits longingly for more, which it ultimately receives, you know that smell I'm talking about? That is one of the most heavenly smells in this whole wide world, and that is what I am taking in right now. Oh, this is one of those moments when words cannot express that feeling, you've got to feel it to experience the magic.
You feel a definite relief from the scorching heat, as the cool winds gently whip your face. That wind jolts you to the sudden awareness that nature holds the key to everything. Just look outside your window, watch the raindrops fall, feel the cool air, and you forget all your cares, worries and frustrations. It fills you with a deep joy and energizes you , and is it any wonder that you can work for hours on end and rarely get tired on a rainy day? Of course, one of the best parts is waking up on a rainy morning. The alarm goes off, but you are snuggled comfily under your blanket, you'd rather die that get up, you turn off the alarm and continue snuggling, it’s a feeling that can't be described…
And best of them all, it's the many memories that spring up in the back of my head when I think about rain. Rewind around 10 years, I used to watch it rain, hell, i used to wait for the rain to fill up our coutyard, and my cousin and I would make loads of paper boats and lauch them in the water...Ahoy,sailor!!!
Rewind around 5 years, the first time my cousins and I went to a hotel by ourselves to eat biriyani, it was raining cats and dogs then, and we reached home all drenched!!
I know I am rambling...so I'll leave it at that...Maybe more later...

Discrete What???

3 down, and three to go. that's the state of my exams right now. Today I had to endure a torturous bout with discrete structures. I went into the exam hall with my mind buzzing with all the conditions a group must satisfy to be abelian or a ring and the like. And my friends asked me the question I've learnt not to ask anymore-"What's the point of all this?"
And after I received the question paper, I was like "This is it?" . No, no,no it was not that it was easy. It was just that nothing made sense. A question which could only be answered in 3 lines was worth 4 marks. And a single truth table with 8 rows and around 8 columns was worth 10! I mean, what is the logic in all this? And I made my usual set of mistakes. Its back. Yeah. Its been gone for nearly a year and half, but now it is officially back. I am talking about the answer-right-then-cut syndrome that has plagued me for so long...I always write the first answer that pops into my mind, and stick with it, until it is dis-proven logically. On those rare occasions when I don't know an answer or have got a lot of guesses about it, I usually get beaten by this syndrome. Almost always I write the correct answer and then strike it off and replace it with a wrong one. I had no idea what a strongly connected graph was and I ended up writing the correct definition, then cut it, and wrote the wrong one!!!
Well on the whole a "not bad" exam. That's 3 down and 3 to go!!!

FYI: Discrete structures is a maths like subject useful for computer students. You learn about logic, sets and algebra in that.

Cross Roads...


How was it when you were a teen? When you had entered college? Did you have a very clear picture of where you wanted to be in a couple of year's time? And did you give it your all to make that dram of yours come true? And did it?
Please don't think I start each and every one of my posts accusing each and every one of you, as if you are always wrong and I am always right. It's nothing like that. It's just that, if you answered each of the above questions with a decisive "Yes", then I'd definitely like to hear from you.
The thing is, I have no idea what I want to do in life, or even what kind of job I want to have. Nothing. I've been asked to develop that idea since I was in 12th, and I couldn't and even now, I can't. There is nothing that sticks out. Every idea has its pros and cons, but if I genuinely love an idea I'll do anything I have to  get to it, but the thing is, nothing really makes me feel excited.
There are two options for me. Either I can accept a job after I graduate from college, or I can go for higher studies.
And this is where the deadlock is.
Option 1: The job I get is inevitably one in the IT sector. And one of the trademarks of the sector is its nerve wrecking hours of work. I may have to work for hours on end, and leave me no time for family, but at the end of the day I'll get a huge paycheck.
Option 2: I can go for higher studies but the dilemma still remains. Another thought that rests in the back of my head is whether or not I should enter the teaching profession. I don’t know how many of you know this, I have taught a lot of people. My first "students" were my mother and father, I taught my cousin and a couple of others from school. It is one of the few things that I love to do. The salary will be admittedly lower, but I'll get time to spend with my family and relax, no deadlines, no tension and the like.
Just think of Steve Borden (Sting). The only reason he declined the big fat paycheck from WWE and signed up for TNA was because he cared for his family. He now does not have the incessant travels, and he is respected in the locker room. Ultimately, he made the right choice for himself.
I'd like to conclude with a quote from the movie "Dan in Real Life":

Integrals, Fourier Series, Transforms...Someone Save Me!!!

ALERT: THIS POST IS MEANT FOR ADULT READING ONLY! IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 17 PLEASE GET YOUR PARENT NEARBY. YOU WONT UNDERSTAND A WORD OF WHAT IS WRITTEN HERE OTHERWISE!!!!

My exams started today, and the first one was maths. Cant say I messed it up, I did pretty alright, but I've got to say this.
About one hour into the exams, my head jammed. All I could make out was a fuzzy noise. It is uncommon for me to be dazed in an exam hall, but as it happens, maths is not one of my strong points, it is, if you will, my Achilles' Heel. Its not that I score bad in maths, not at all, but the thing is, I hate it.
I don't know, I never had such a reaction back in school, till 12th. And in 12th, I saw my nemesis, and it is called Integration. I could never get a hang on it, and I wrote my board exams and entrance without fully knowing it. And whenever I came across a question on it in entrance, I'd simply skip it. And as time passed, I began to resent and dread that elongated 'S' shape whenever I see it.
And came college. I could solve one integral with difficulty, now I was expected to solve double and triple integrals. And it really came to a head this semester.
That is what brings me to today's exam . The exam was littered with those long curves that I have grown to dread. And there was Fourier transform and the like, littered with integrals as usual, and coupled with limits and coefficients. Is it from 0 to pi? Or -pi to +pi? Or was it 0 to 2pi? Was the coefficient 1/pi or its root? The questions were endless and it was with a grat relief that I left the hall.
And what's more???This is not done....I have to deal with this and more next semester...Somebody Save Me!!!!!

I am Back.............


I thought of throwing in the towel, and I actually did, for a couple of days. I deactivated my FB account due to God knows what and wrote my farewell message on my blog. Maybe I thought these things were not worth it. But the last couple of days were extremely rushed,  I was in an extremely bad mood and I made these hasty decisions. And indeed, haste makes waste.
On retrospection of these on-the-spur decisions, I realised that that was not what I intended to do at all. I had lost control of the pace at which my life was leading me, that I wanted to do something to prove to myself, to assure myself, that I had not lost control completely. These actions were meant to console me, and to make me feel as if  I still had control over a couple of decisions. But the fact is, my blog is one of the few things worth living for.
I am back to normal now. My exams are upon me, so I will be using blogger with care. Maybe a post here, a post there, but nothing at the expense of my studies. Because I worked all my life to get to the top, and I am not ready to flush it all down the toilet for absolutely anything in the world. It is what I live for and breathe for. It is what keeps my heart beating.
I could remove my earlier post, but I am not doing that. I want to keep it as a testimony of my insanity.
Thank God you saved me from the rut.
I am back and I am never going back again.

Thinking of hanging it up...

There comes a time in all of our lives that we begin to doubt everything we've done. Every step that we took, all the choices that we made are called to question. It is one of the most deabilitating moments in one's life when we realize that what we considered our greatest accomplishments were never accolades, but illusions in our head. The dubious concept that we are the sun around which the planets revolve, that we happen to be the chosen one, the prodigy, these are beliefs that were shattered more than once for me. But so deep rooted are these beliefs, and such egotistical am I that these do not seem to be uprooted.
How many of us had blown out images of ourselves? How many of us considered ourselves to be invincible? How many of us have watched our dreams being trampled right in front of our eyes? How many of us were too serious and missed out on life's good days only to realize that you've earned nothing? And how many of us strolled around in a happy-go-lucky way only to find ourselves stuck up where we never pictured ourselves?
That is the irony that is life.
And I have been a victim to it. I spent the first years of my life, trying to outdo everybody, and I thought I did. I thought after all this, I can relax, and I can enjoy. But now it has finally dawned on me that all of that is just imaginary, the only thing that is real is me and the fact that there is no going back. You cannot go back to the days when you could have enjoyed but didnt.
And it is at times like this that I feel I should hang it all up. Nobody cares about this blog, nobody reads this stuff, and I seem to be doing a losy job at managing my own life.
This is not goodbye for ever. This is just goodbye for now. When the time is right, I will return (being the most egotistical guy on the planet, who refuses to accept failure).

Vismaya...I'm Coming...Or Not!!!

For anybody who might be wondering, let me clear off any doubts. Vismaya happens to be the name of an infotainment park at Parassinikadavu. And this post is about a trip made there, which was fun, but for me, could have been better.
Japs and family were here, so all of us left just past 9:30 because Deeps was screaming at the top of his lungs that the park would open at 10 and it was likely to be deserted pretty much, and the like. Imagine our shock when we reached there to find the place packed and that it would open only at 11. Somebody deserved a sound thrashing, but we let it slide...too may witnesses.
It was a water theme park, but due to a lot of reasons, I had to stay out of water, so I sat in the sidelines and watched the others enjoy themselves.
There was a horror cave, and we thought it would be amusing to be scared the hell out of, and we entered. Many people were running out of the cave saying they 'cant handle it', and that just left us all the more interested. We entered, and believe me, it was not worth it. When ghosts just stand or sit on the walls and flap their hands and make eerie noises, it doesnt scare you much, because you know they cant come and devour you. The nly thing that had some substance in it was the pitch darkness which left us in a bit of doubt as to whether our next step would be on solid ground or not.
And we had a couple of icecreams, and stuff like that, and soon by 3:30 we were all too exhausted to continue, and that was it...

Rising from the Ashes...

Hail to C M Punk.
If he taught me anything at all, it is that people are not gonna hand everything you want on a silver platter,you've got to have the guts to go ahead and do something. When my heart started poundind, and my legs failed me, I told myself that the last time I checked, I control my legs, not the other way round. And I  did the only thing I could, and that is go into that melee on my own. I served food to a lot of people, and for the first time, I felt in control of the situation.
Remember the dialogue "ഈ ഭൂതത്തെ താന്‍ ഇന്ന് പേടിച്ചാല്‍ ഈ ജന്മം തനിക്കു അവരെ അവിടുന്ന്  ഇറക്കാന്‍ ആവില്ല" Its damn true. This is a message to everyone reading that you can change, and you can change the soul crushing status quo.

A Near Death Post...


Its bustling with people here and my heart is pounding. Any minute now, I will have to go and do something. Atleast go. But that is never as easy as it is to say. They say the leg is a voluntary muscle, but I seriously doubt it. You have no idea how hard it is to drag my feet along the floor to advance a few steps, to climb a few steps if it so happens that the destination is loaded with people I barely know. It is all well and good, but never great, if there is someone to drag me there, someone behind whom I can hide, but as it happens I have to do it myself now. The anticipation is a hundred times worse than the actual event itself. Once I get there, I may fall in place….did I just say that???? Scratch that. I may survive it. That is all. 
Call me a coward, call me chicken but the fact is all of us are cowards in one way or the other. How many of you feel your knees clanking together when you go on stage to give a speech? Or when you are about to enter the exam hall??? The fact is, I am extremely comfortable in both of those situations, minus the little anxiety without which I can never be truly focussed.
Any second now, the doors may burst open, and I may have to go. Or else I will have to go down on my own, which is even worse. There's no getting over this fear. I could have bypassed this event by going out with a couple of my friends, but the thing is, I hate every minute of it. There I said it out loud.
That's why I am stuck here. I am a completely out of order person.

But the thing is, I am not angry at myself. I am sick of everyone who puts me in situations like this and I am sick of everything till the situation passes.

Social Ineptitude

For so long, this has been a platform from which I can voice my concerns and frustrations out openly. And here is one that makes me nervous and angry.
Since I was born, I was always accused on being socially inept, meaning I dont get along well with people, I cant mingle freely with people, and in plain words, that I just cant 'adjust'. True, I tend to get nervous in the company of people whom I barely know. I can deal with people I know well, but I cant deal with people whom I dont know, or for that matter, the most problematic part, dealing with people whom I should know, but dont know. I have no idea how this kind of a disease began in me, I am certainly unaware of its roots and origins. The only thing I know is that I am a victim. The very prospect of having such an encounter makes me nervous. And as far as possible, I try to find excuses to skip such meetings.
But the thing which makes me sick is that people expect me to get along in those situations. Kind of like expecting a heart patient to participate in a marathon! He may make it, but no damn guarantee.
I dont know, in such meetings I mostly wonder, what is it that people talk about? The only things that I can talk about are studies,career, WWE or politics. And these are topics that most people dont want to talk about.
Maybe it is because I have raised myself to be a perfectionist, I feel that if I make a single mistake, its all over and the likes. But can I help it? I have been a topper for the past 8 years and I have been the model student (at least in front of other people) that I feel there is no room for screwing up. Or maybe, it is because I have a dual personality(All of us do...). The person that my acquaintances see is not the real me. The real me comes out only in front of my family.
But the biggest question is what do I do??????
I have long heard that that nobody is perfect, and the thing is I am expected to be perfect. When I tell my parents this, they retaliate by telling me they dont expect me to sing or dance or whatever. That logic is completely out of order in my opinion.
The world expects me to be perfect, but what the hell do I do???????
I am certainly not getting any useful advice, and I feel so frustrated. i want some advice, but who am I kidding ????? Chances are I'll get advice on this blog when John Cena quits his boring character.............

A Brewing Storm...

The last couple of days were frustrating, if not deabilitating. We had to push ourselves harder than ever, with the avalanche of assignments pouring in, coupled with a mad but largely unsuccessful attempts to do something in the lab. And the series tests themselves. My brain feels like a wrung sponge. Or should I say saturated? So saturated in fact that it cannot take any more without first taking a much needed break.
And all of this, it seems is barely the tip of the iceberg. October 19 happens to be our semester exam, and we have not yet finished our portions. We have extra classes tomorrow, Monday,and Tuesday. And after all that we still have to complete the lab work. It will all be completed by, let us say, 12 or 13. Then we have a week at best to study for the university exams. What a comforting thought to be living with!!!

Sometimes I wonder why I even write, actually nobody reads this stuff except for just me, and maybe one or two, on my incessant prodding. But that doubt vanishes soon, you know. I just love to write. I love to play with words, use unusual expressions, and invent some of my own. But I get frustrated at times, please dont be angry at me...
And when I get frustrated, I need some means by which I can release it, and writing is one of them. Sometimes I am angry over God-knows-what and I feel down in the dump for the smallest of issues. Maybe that's because I believe I am something I'm not. Maybe because I have an inflated view of myself. Can't help it. That's me. I dont even know why I am writing this...this is all so incoherent...

Back Home!!

Hi...I'm back home thanks to an unexpected twist of fate.Saturday, initially scheduled to be a working day, fell victim to a hartal, and Monday turned out to be a motor vehicle strike, so there is no likelihood of classes on either of these days.
So, I'm back home, again...

Something New...and Big!

I know it is out of character for me to post twice daily,but something huge has to be said, and it needs to be said right now.
I've been on the blogging scene for a couple of months now, and I have now taken my next step. I have posted a couple of videos of me imitating idea star singer judges M G Sreekumar, Sarath and Didi.
I had to cut out the song part sung by my cousin D, as it was too much for my poor net to handle.

Onam Holidays

Thankfully this time, Onam and Ramzan fell close by, so we could anticipate a near 2-week holiday. But, then again, was it going to happen smoothly? My eternal phrase comes to play again. "There's many a slip between the cup and the lip". Will everything work out?Or not?
I reached home on 27th. The days passed uneventfully,but one could literally smell the doubt lingering in the air. If Ramzan fell on 30th, its over. I would have class on 31st and 1st and 2nd...a bit too much to cut.After a nail biting couple of days, we finally got the news that Ramzan is on 31st. മനസ്സില്‍ ലഡ്ഡു പൊട്ടി !!! Then came the icing on the cake. I had thought that I would have to cut atleast one day, but now take a look at this...1st and 2nd were suspended due to first year admissions. മനസ്സില്‍ മറ്റൊരു ലഡ്ഡു പൊട്ടി !!!!!
And thankfully, I got a respite from college and was at home for 2 whole weeks.


Now...focussing on Onam...
It wasn't huge, we have had better, but this was all we've been having for quite a couple of years now. Anna and Sreekuaps came, besides the usual Bakkalam lot. That was it. At least, chicken biriyani and sadya (സദ്യ) made up for it.
( For anyone whom I might be annoying with jabs in malayalam, sorry, I cant help it. You see, I just found out you can transliterate using blogger...)
I saw a variety of flower carpets(പൂക്കളം) too, this time. Besides mine, which had no shape in particular(although that was unintentional) I saw a square one put at Anna's house. I'll try to post a picture soon, I seem to have left it at home.
Anyway, that's all history now, and I am back to college, looking forward to the end of the semester, which should be in 2-3 weeks.

A Tiny Bit of Frustration...

Have you ever been at the receiving end of the following scenario???
The teacher assigns you a particularly nasty piece of work. You work on it day in and day out and eventually get it ready on the due date. You go on to submit and find out that some others havent even started the work. You start to feel a little bit superior to them for doing your work on time, when all of a sudden, the snake strikes. Lightning falls. The world comes to an end. None of these actually happen, but the date for submission is postponed. How hollow do your efforts seem now, and what is even more annoying is the constant jabs from the others, saying how lucky they were at not having spent time on it.
Seem familiar????
I dont know about you, but I have been there. So has a cousin of mine. I told him thats the way the world is and all that rubbish. I told him we will get our dues in due course of time, I even told him that procrastinators will perish sooner or later.
But the fact of the matter is, this scenario repeats itself over and over again, and most of the time, the benefactors are the same, and that makes me sick.
But my faith is strong. I still believe in the advice I gave, still hope it is true.
Time will prove me right. ( I hope...)

The so called gettogether...

I told you so...
Yup, its happened. Remember that family gettogether I mentioned??? Yeah,it has gone down in flames.
It was supposed to be an all star event, with my uncles, aunts and 5 of us cousins. But...one by one all of us called in busy and eventually, there was no such thing you could call as a gettogether.
Well, I never anticipated the event, you know, due to reasons already mentioned. Then again, maybe, there was a bright side to that as well. I finally got rid of that awful load of backlog that I had been hauling on my poor back for so damn long. In the three days, I completed my fair record, my rough record, C assignment and maths homework, which has left me with sufficient spare time to do something I love, and that is write.
And all this was achieved while having my fair share of enjoyment.
But this has set me thinking about how much all of our lives have changed in the last 2-3 years. Taking a couple of steps back down memory lane takes us back to the Chennai trip. This is the last real trip that is in my memory. I had to pass on the calicut flat-warming due to the entrance class, and I was down with fever during last year's Pondy trip. Can we ever have that sort of a trip again? The answer at least for now, seems no. But stranger things have happened, and I happen to be someone who believes in miracles...

Oh...What A Rush!!!

I know it has been a long time...nearly over a month...I haven't posted since my workshop exam, if my memory serves me right.But still, I've got my bunch of excuses ready.
First of all, there was nothing much to write about, you know. Just plain old everyday duties, which will bore everyone out of their minds.
Secondly, mid-July I fell victim to a leech-like fever. I know the adjective is highly inappropriate, but how else do you go about describing something that just wont let go??? Nearly 5 days it kept me grounded, cost me 4 days of class and 1 EC lab. Well, I can cope with all that, but when I finally returned to class, I found out that a mountain of assignments, classworks and studies were waiting for me. For nearly 5 days from then, I was busy setting those affairs in order, and then came the next bolt of lightning...series test on 1,2,3 August.
This really ticked me off, as it was trying to cancel my weekend home. But God got me out of that dilemma-cum-misery. Series was postponed to 3,4,5 August.
It was not what you would call great. I wrote most of the answers, and for those which I couldnt prove, I sought my own way out. I assumed a particular method is allowed, and went on. Its really great, you should try it. But a word of caution, whatever you do, it should have a shred of logic in it or you will find yourself trying to divide by adding two alphabets.
And it is now that I am getting a little breathing space, so here I am. I am really looking forward to going home this weekend, but scared of being overly optimistic. Its just that when you look forward to something too much and it doesnt turn out the way you want it to, you can be sucked up into the deepest darkest pits of hell (figurative usage alert!!!).

Workshop

Do you have a room where your worst nightmares have come true? Well, I do. It's called the Workshop. Oh, you didn't hear about it? Wait, you will. Or atleast you will once you turn 17 and decide to proceed for engineering. I am not saying it's going to be tough for you, it was tough for me, that's all. Well, 11 months of efffort came to an end today. With the exam.
How was it, you ask? Well, one word hasn't been discovered for that yet. It was okay. Not good. Not bad. Just okay. And when it comes to me and the workshop, that is saying something. I dont want to go into the detaills now, do check back for more news.

Spelling Bee

Hi everyone!!!
Today I thought I'd let you know about the Scripps National Spelling Bee. I know it is 2 weeks overdue, but what can I do?
I've been following the Bee for nearly 5 years now. One day I was flipping through the channels and I saw a girl at the mike spelling, and I was like "What in the world is this???". Curiosity got the better of me, and I hung around and watched it. As I watched spellers of roughly my age rattling away the incredibly complex spellings, I was hooked, and instantly. Since then, I study spellings and in general, English, whenever I get the time and I watch this program always. It is always telecast at the start of June, so I am always free to watch.
What I've noticed is the increasing number of Indian-origin contestants making it to the finals. What is even more interesting ( and something to be proud of) is that for the last four bees, we have crowned Indian-origin champions.
Why this dominance??? God knows why.
But I dont watch this to see Indian names and to watch Indians winning. I watch this because it is inspiring. If you dont believe me, you should try getting off the internet once in a while, and actually watch something worthwhile...no offense...
