Rain...the Song of Nature

As I sit here, in my room typing this, a cold jet of wind is whipping over my body. The window is open, and you can hear the pitter-patter of raindrops on the soil. Occassionally, there is a huge whip of light in the sky, followed by a roar. Such is the song of nature called rain.
And considering it has never rained here like this for months, it is a welcome relief. The heat was unbearable, and we were all sweating like anything. But that was yesterday. Today, right from the morning, it has been like this. And I am loving it. Do you know what the greatest addictive smell is? The smell which emanates from the deep crevices of the earth, when the first drops of glorious, life saving rain thrash down on it, reviving it, resurrecting the land, trees, humans and animals alike. No natural event is so commonly, unanimously accepted, relished and enjoyed by animate and inanimate beings alike. Oh, i love rain, and I wish it would never end…
But, given that is is not yet rainy season, it is not bound to last long, So the only thing to do is enjoy it while it lasts…So long!!!

Gangster Cut...and Other Stories

I cut my hair yesterday. I know, I know, you are probably thinking what that has to do with anything...and you are right. But it has something to do with me. I cut my hair so short that it now resembles a gangster. I never dreamed of that similarity, but a lot of people told me that today, so I think it pretty much holds...and come to think of it...I learnt a valuable lesson today...something I never knew. I learnt that gangsters cropped their hair short. Who'd have thought of it that way?? To me, to this day, the image of a gangster brings out an image of a scarred face with...come to think of it, hair isn't a problem. You've got gangsters with short hair, and you've got gangsters with long hair...I mean who cares????
Years ago this must have troubled me. I remember being in 1st standard. Back then, for the little children coloured umbrellas were the norm. One day, I fail to recall why, I took a black umbrella. I was ushered with catcalls of "Appooppa" (meaning grandfather), and I was sickened. I felt like crying, and I might have. And I still remember the advice my mother gave me..."If they call you "appooppa" (grandfather), go right ahead and call them "makkale"(meaning children)...one of the best advice I have ever received, even though at that time, I thought it was rubbish.
Now, this hardly concerns me. I don't care if people call me a gangster (called goonda). I know these things don't matter. But I feel I could have lived my childhood days with the experience that I have now, it would've been a whole lot easier that way...but never forget that it is precisely these experiences that make us who we are today, and gives us our very definition. (I feel a great song that stresses the difficulties in our lives is the Climb by Miley Cyrus)...

Moving on...it's raining, it's pouring, and the old man is snoring...well you get he idea...
It has been sweltering here for days, literally like being stuffed inside an oven...it was unbearable. (Now I know how a chicken piece feels inside there, thank God it is dead...). Now, the heavens have opened, and it has been raining for nearly half an hour now, and I think it has still got plenty left in the tank to go all night...
I love the rain...ooooopppppsssss....I seem to have devoted a post on this sometime in the past...
Well, that is all...

It's raining it's pouring...

It's raining on and off here, but who is complaining? I love the rain, provided it doesn't mess with what I want, but that is besides the point. A rumble of thunder just rose, that is a side effect which some fear, but I have no problem with thunder or lightning. I am not scared of them, and I repeat, I love the rain.
You know the smell when the first raindrops land on the ground, the parched land quickly drinks up the elixir and waits longingly for more, which it ultimately receives, you know that smell I'm talking about? That is one of the most heavenly smells in this whole wide world, and that is what I am taking in right now. Oh, this is one of those moments when words cannot express that feeling, you've got to feel it to experience the magic.
You feel a definite relief from the scorching heat, as the cool winds gently whip your face. That wind jolts you to the sudden awareness that nature holds the key to everything. Just look outside your window, watch the raindrops fall, feel the cool air, and you forget all your cares, worries and frustrations. It fills you with a deep joy and energizes you , and is it any wonder that you can work for hours on end and rarely get tired on a rainy day? Of course, one of the best parts is waking up on a rainy morning. The alarm goes off, but you are snuggled comfily under your blanket, you'd rather die that get up, you turn off the alarm and continue snuggling, it’s a feeling that can't be described…
And best of them all, it's the many memories that spring up in the back of my head when I think about rain. Rewind around 10 years, I used to watch it rain, hell, i used to wait for the rain to fill up our coutyard, and my cousin and I would make loads of paper boats and lauch them in the water...Ahoy,sailor!!!
Rewind around 5 years, the first time my cousins and I went to a hotel by ourselves to eat biriyani, it was raining cats and dogs then, and we reached home all drenched!!
I know I am rambling...so I'll leave it at that...Maybe more later...
